One of the most important things to get right when you are starting out online with your business is finding a hosting provider that is reliable. The website hosting provider will not only hold all your business information and templates, it also has the potential to assist you with search engine optimisation, software downloads, helpful tutorials about setting up your website and lots more.
My websites had always been ‘done’ for me so I had never looked into hosting myself, the bill was always paid without me ever really appreciating that I could get so much more value for my money. I guess that was the stage I was at.
When I received an email telling me that my hosting charges were increasing (but I should be grateful because they’d done such hard work to offer me more) I started to question exactly WHAT I was getting and why I should pay them more now. I don’t mind paying for something that is good quality and worth it, but I really had no idea of what else the market had to offer. Hours of searching and reading about website hosting plans led me to end up following the advice of multitudes of well-known established internet marketers and business owners.
I first heard about HostGator on a podcast (www.freedomocean.com). It caught my attention because I had only just started looking at hosting, trying to understand it. Then a few days later, I read about some other people raving about HostGators plans and customer service. Of course, I went to their website to have a look at what was on offer (I clicked on a banner ad just like this one).
468×60 animated Finding a Hosting Provider
Hostgator offered so much for a website hosting provider!! So much that I not only took them up on their offer, I also became an affiliate with them. (They really are that good). With different packages on offer, its worth taking a look.
* Unlimited Disk Space
* Unlimited Band Width
* Easy Site Builder (This is SO true… its WAY easy!!)
* Easy Control Panel
and it goes on…
But it also guarantees you, 99.9% uptime. This is brilliant! Trust me, some companies will not offer you that and you will find your website ‘down’ for some unexplained periods of time.
I personally have tested their customer service, on several occassions! Every time they answered me within minutes, they talked me through whatever I didn’t understand and sorted out my questions. Absolutely fantastic – really!
Check them out, I’ve been very impressed.
Register a Domain Name – vibra tech
When you want to start a business online I absolutely recommend you get your own website – don’t build it on someone else’s platform. Some people start out on something like Blogger, WordPress.com or Squidoo – and that’s fine if you’re not planning on selling anything (but you’re going into business right?). So that means you’re going to need to register a domain name.
Like so many that begin to get interested in online business I found that looking for domain names could be time consuming but fun. It’s a great time of exploration, searching for that perfect domain name or its variations, looking at what is already out there and narrowing down your options til you decide on one! Or, if you’re like me, you end up with a whole library of domain names that will hopefully one day end up as a website that earns you money! (I’m not alone am I?)
Let me tell you why I like www.namecheap.com to register my domain names. There are a couple of reasons.
Firstly, my experience of their website is that it is really easy to navigate and find what I’m looking for. I have some domain names registered with other companies that aren’t so user friendly, especially for those of us who aren’t complete technical geeks! Inside the NameCheap Dashboard I’ve easily managed to navigate around the site, change my DNS settings, as well as get sorted out as an affiliate (after I had already purchased so many domain names I was getting out of hand).
Secondly, they have free WhoIsGuard for the first year. This is a feature that just gives you some anonymity for your website. Instead of all your personal registration details being able to be seen when people lookup who owns your domain names or websites, all they will see is some basic information. For most other domain name registrations this is not free at all, you pay for any additions to the basic offer.
Thirdly, they send you great reminders of when you’re due or if any of your domains are about to expire. They not only remind you about the domains, they will also remind you about the WhoIsGuard. Logging into your account and double-checking the state of everything is really easy so the whole process is seamless. Who has time to go searching, trying to understand what you’re meant to be doing. You certainly won’t have that trouble with namecheap.
NameCheap was the 3rd company I had used in my domain name purchasing experience, and they are the ones I have been with ever since. A great offer, easy to navigate and use, reliable and speedy service.
Free Video Tool – vibra tech
A video on your website is a powerful way to communicate. Pictures speak a thousand words – and video, well, I’m sure you’ve seen what’s going on over at YouTube! Everyone loves the visual.
Internet Marketing is being driven by the consumption of pictures and video’s – you’d be mad to miss out on benefits of it. Particularly with the use of smart-phones and ipads, videos are being watched at huge rates every day.
For a lot of people creating a video for their business can be a little scary. If you don’t like being in front of the camera, or you don’t know how to use the technology don’t worry too much about it. It’s something to start to think about and researching. It is a fantastic asset to have to send people back to your website.
A great place to start is to use a tool like the one I’m about to show you. This is not video in the sense that you are sitting in front of the camera talking – although you could do that! This awesome free tool is so simple even little kids could use it.
You can add a few photos that are relevant to the topic thats being discussed, music can be selected from the program, even some text can be added and voila.. a video is born.
The free tool lets you create videos that have do have some limitations, but it’s a great way to try it out for yourself. You can practice using birthday photos or holiday photos first 🙂
All you need is a few photos. The program really does the rest. I made this one in about 5-10 minutes with the photos on their site – it was really that easy! It’s called Animoto.
